My eyes fluttered open somewhere along the northern coast of Maine this morning to the sound of thunder in the distance. The arrival of the rain that so hospitably held off for all three of our couples this weekend seemed to finally be making its appearance. As I’ve been updating on Twitter, this weekend Justin, Julia & I just completed our third triple header of the year. And it was good! :)
Now I’ll be honest, the triple header is a feat of marathon strength even on a regular weekend when all the weddings are close to one another. But this weekend we decided to up the difficulty level for the judge from Iceland, and added in some serious miles between our weddings. Wedding #1 took place at Chelsea Piers in NYC. Wedding #2 was two and a half hours north at the Jonathan Edwards Winery in CT. And Wedding #3…..well, wedding #3 was seven hours north beyond that on the coast in Sorrento, Maine.
We already had Julia on the ground in Maine, and Justin & I drove over night. It took a lot of coffee, and yes some delirious witty banter that included “today I feel like Benjamin Button….y’know in reverse,” but we not only made it through, I felt like we were on fire!!
Hey, maybe we’ll have to do these long distance triple headers more often. Ok, maybe not. :)
We are off for the biggest brunch we can find in the state of Maine. Heck, if someone wants to fry me up an entire moose that might even work.
Exhausted but happy in Maine,
*A double scoop of HUGE thanks goes out to Miss Alicia Candelora for helping us out at our Jonathan Edwards wedding so Julia could head on to Maine, and for doing an absolutely amazing job all while looking super fashionable. :)
Wedding #1: Beryl & Michael at Chelsea Piers
Wedding #2: Kristen & Stephen at Jonathan Edwards Winery
Wedding #3: Ali & Jon at a private estate in Sorrento, Maine
And now that we’re done all I can say is…..
