Stuff We Love: Creature Comforts

This year Justin, Julia & I are closing down shop on December 15th. We will still be blogging, but other than that the studio (and our brains!) will be closed for three glorious weeks while we recover from the past two years of going full steam ahead non-stop.

In short, it will be heaven.

But before we can get there, we know we have a lot of days ahead of us logging long hours to get everything done and out the door. This week alone we are preparing for two engagement shoots, three weddings and not to mention our talk at PartnerCon in New Orleans.

And with all of this work, I can’t help but dream of all the creature comforts Dec 15th will bring including, but not limited to: tea, good books, old movie marathons, warm fires, hot cocoa, kettle corn, wool socks, flannel pajamas, twinkle lights, grandma’s quilts, and my favorite “creature” comfort of all, Cooper asleep on our laps.

But if I had to add just one more comfort on to the pile, it would have to be these cashmere hot water bottles from Restoration Hardware. Truth be told, I have absolutely no idea what one actually does with a hot water bottle. But I know I want one!! :)

So tell me, what are YOUR favorite creature comforts??

  1. Justin

I don’t know what it is, but I know I want it!

  2. Heather

I know I could really use one of these in the evening, snuggled up on the couch to relax for the day, to keep hands or feet warm. Always get a little chill during the fall/winter months no matter how high the heat is in here!

  3. Spring

I use my old school Rite Aid heating pad- but its the same idea- love wrapping it up with blankets to keep my toes warm. I think my favorite cold weather comfort is curling up in front of our wood stove with my pup and a good book.

  4. Ed Congdon

I’m always good with a mug of hot chocolate — laced with a little bit of Peppermint Schnapps. Yummm….

  5. Jensey

I recently learned the glorious powers of the hot water bottles during our trip to Africa this summer: It was their winter when we visited and *freezing* cold at night. During one of our stays in a lodge, I slipped into bed and screamed, thinking there was an animal under the covers- Thank God I was wrong, and it was a fur-covered hot water bottle! You put it in your sheets an hour or so before bed and it heats it up before you get in there- Heaven! As long as you know what it is. ;)

  6. Melinda

Let us know if you wanna get together sometime during your "vacation". We would love to see you guys!

  7. Amanda Herzberger

Hot water bottles are the BEST! I warm one up before I climb into my chilly bed to read and snuggle right up to it!

  8. xxoo.Brandis

I love a warm fire, a good book, lots of canoodling with all four of us on the same side of the couch and even venturing outside for a campfire with marshmallows. ♥

  9. Betsy Jo

‘Happy for you guys that you 3 are going to get a well-deserved break next month! And as of today, my favorite creature comfort is our wood stove. If this CT day isn’t the epitome of November New England weather, I don’t know what is… :)

  10. Lizzie

Ok, prob TMI for the boys reading this but ladies, they’re GREAT for cramps ;) (just make sure it’s wrapped in a towel or resting over your sweater so there’s enough fabric between you and the hot water bottle)

  11. Jakki

ummmm if I didnt have one THESE would be right up there at the top of my list! How cool are they!? My creature comfort is a worn green blankie that sits on my coach ready for me to cuddle up in it to look out my windows….

  12. Kare

You have no idea what to do with a hot water bottle? For shame! I curl up with mine once a month (yeah, you ladies know what I’m talking about) – next to diamonds, it’s a girl’s best friend.

  13. Lauryn Galloway

awh, they go in your bed! to heat the bed up for you in the cold. :-) We use a microwaveable heating pad. I like to keep it down near my feet!

  14. Karen (Mikols) Bonar

Back in the time of "Little Women" i believe they put them in the foot of the bed. To warm it up. But you have Cooper …
