I’ve been so excited to do this post that I actually couldn’t sleep last night. As a lot of you know, we officially finished up our 2011 Spread the Love and Walk Through a Wedding tour in Boston last month with our Boston Tea Party. But what you didn’t know, is that we’ve been in secret cahoots (yes, cahoots!) with Jim Davis Hicks and the amazing crew at Thirst Relief International to bring you just one more Walk Through this year. But the difference is, this time 50% of every seat sold will go directly to benefit Thirst Relief and provide clean drinking water to people all over the world. Just to give you an idea, if we can sell all 20 seats that will be the equivalent of 1500 lives saved.
I feel like that’s the kind of round number that we throw out there, but we’re so used to hearing it that it doesn’t really sink in. Stop and think about that for one cool second. Think about what fifteen hundred people would look like. For those of you who have been to a WPPI, that’s over capacity for what would fill one of those gigantic ballrooms with the rows and rows of seats that go on forever. I’ve sat in one of those seats before. And to think that looking around each one of those people might represent a life, a life that you & I could be saving together, well….now you understand the not sleeping last night part.
Yea, I’m so fired up, my hair just may burst into flames at any minute! :)
For this one, we knew that when we were putting together a theme we wanted to pay honor to the water aspect without being flippant or disrespectful to the cause. So after tossing around a few ideas, we finally settled on one that seemed like the perfect fit. Since this Walk Through will be held right here on the shoreline in CT, it didn’t seem like anything could be better than an old school nautical feel with reference to the sea. For this one we’re thinking tall ships and navigational charts. Pea coats and pocket watches. Moby Dick meets Message in a Bottle. I’ve given Julia free reign on this one, and since she grew up her whole life around sailing I’m just as excited as the rest of you to see what one earth she’s going to come up with this time. If this board is any idea, I’d say it’s gonna be good.
&The Details: The Thirst Relief Walk Through a Wedding w/ J&M will be held at our place and surrounding areas in CT on October 26th, 2011. It is an all day workshop starting at 9:30 am and going til around 10pm, so be sure to pick up a coffee habit. This workshop is strictly limited to 20 seats, and because it’s for an incredible cause we expect those seats to sell out quickly. So be sure to sign up fast if you want one!! We hope to see you there!
What is Walk Through a Wedding??
Walk Through a Wedding w/ J&M is a full day workshop that is pretty much just like what it sounds: we literally walk through an entire wedding day with everything from the getting ready to a dark church to posing the couple to shooting the reception complete with killer details. We start bright & early at our place at 9:30 am talking about the “Why” and the day typically goes until at least 10pm, where we wind back up for some wine & post-processing fun. Throughout the day we cover all of those trouble spots like posing an unruly bridal party, organizing the family shots, off-camera lighting at the church & reception, what to do if you only have 10 minutes for the portraits, and how to have a game plan to shoot the reception details before the get destroyed. We have everything set up to be just like a real wedding, so this is literally a one-stop shop for all those things you struggle with. We hope to see you there!!
Finally, we’re counting on YOU to help us spread the word!
