Happy Monday friends! And what better way to kick off the week of Christmas, but with our gorgeous red velvet themed Walk Through a Wedding workshop that we did last month in Virginia at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth with the INCREDIBLE Missy from Antonia Christianson Events!! We were lucky enough to work with an amazing team of creatives (see the full list below!), and also to have one of our #jmworkshopalums Sarah Pascutti who attended a Walk Through earlier this year come back to model as our bride & groom with her husband David! We just LOVE those guys SO much!
The whole workshop kicked off with a styled welcome dinner at the home of our dear friends Ashley & Jeremy of We Are the Mitchells, and we NEVER could have pulled it off without them! They ran around with us doing all the grocery shopping, rentals pick ups & drop offs, and helped style the whole thing! They are the kind of friends who show up over and over again, and have taught us more about what friendship really means than anybody else I know. LOVE you guys!
I’m going to explain what the three days of the workshop look like as we go through the post, but first we thought it would be fun to let you hear from a few of our attendees on their experience!

We love to kick off our two-day workshop, with a styled welcome dinner the night before! We asked ourselves what was the best way to love & serve a bunch of wedding photographers who were traveling from all over to be at the workshop & the answer was clear: give them the wedding reception dinner they usually never get to sit down & enjoy!!
Cider champagnes! YUM!!! These come in handy for the rousing games of Heads Up that we always end the first night with! :)
We kick off Day 1 with the lecture portion of the workshop, going through step by step how we approach the whole wedding day and digging deep into both our lighting & posing philosophies & the practical approaches! Then after lunch, we start walking through the wedding day as if it’s the real thing complete with a getting ready!
Then we move outside for a big Posing section all about getting organic, authentic, real & emotional results that actually tell a story! Rather than stiff, static posing that looks the exact same couple to couple!
We also have a bridal party to practice getting the “lifestyle bridal party” approach that we teach!
How gorgeous is this red velvet linen & those amazing calligraphy plate chargers?? That was Missy’s genius idea!!
Then on Day 2 we bring it back to teach ALL the business stuff! The pricing, branding, portfolio, marketing, getting booked, attracting the ideal client, workflows, outsourcing and more! Basically, everything that goes into running a THRIVING photography business while getting you your LIFE back! And because there is SO much business info, we like to break it up with a second styled shoot just for fun & head shots of all of our amazing attendees!
